Drastic Reduction of Search Areas in

Shadow Zones

The first part of the algorithm is a coverage analysis, based on the radio quality per sector of the last connected cell, through which the shadow area and the coverage area including LPS (Last Point of Signal) are identified.

Secondly, the shadow area where the rescue subject may be present is reduced by the technique called ‘shadow area elimination by neighboring cell coverage’.

Finally, the shadow area is more reduced to the priority search area (up to 1/25) through the mobility diffusion model according to the elapsed time, which reflects the average moving speeds, considering the personal characteristics (age, gender, health, experience) and the environmental factors (steepness, path width, weather conditions).

Additionally, the LPS area can be further reduced through the time-series inference of the cells connected by the person based on the Monte-Carlo localization and the mobility model.

Automated near-real-time

analysis for

reducing searching area

Powered by the automated framework, the analysis can be finished within 10 minutes, in contrast to manual analysis by a radio analysis expert that takes approximately 3 hours. Concurrent search analyses for multiple sites are supported.

Breaking-through Technology to Save Lives in

Rescue Dead Zones

SOVLIT-iSAR pioneered increasing the chances of saving lives in these blind spots by significantly reducing the search area (up to 1/25).

 • Patented mobile communication forensic technology

   - consists of a mobile coverage analysis and elimination algorithm

   - a time-series inference and a diffusion model based on the mobility

characteristics of the rescue subject and the environment.

 • The process of determining the search area is fully automated, taking just

10 minutes for common personnel to get the result.

02

Nothing but a Mobile Phone to Track Down

the Lost Person

SOVLIT-iSAR requires nothing except the mobile phone of the lost person to narrow down the search area.

• This feature is useful, because the service can be applied to all people,

residents or visitors while other technologies usually require specific devices

   or apps.

03

Reducing the Social Costs of Search and Rescue and

Easing the Burden on Rescue Personnel

 • By drastically reducing priority search areas in mobile shadow zones

  - secures relief golden time

  - helps save manpower and cost in rescue operations.

• The dedicated app increases search-and-rescue efficiency

  - by real-time situation awareness and sharing through tracking of

     rescue personnel

  - in large scale operations (about 1,000 rescue people or more).
